Tree was recently repotted and it is growing vigorously. It was just about right time to cut long shots on top of the crown. I left growth ...

Thanks Pablo. I was thinking about removing stump of second trunk completely on beginning but keeping it was good idea.
ReplyDeleteWhat is your idea of the desing in upcoming years? I would build the crown out of the bottom right branch of the bigger trunk. I would also keep the smaller trunk, but it would have to be wired to copy its parent shape ;)
ReplyDeleteWell, firs of all it is yamadori and tree has structure as given by nature so far and it has not a lot of sense to radically change its character. In present I have no intention of lovering main trunk. There is one scar already, nicely healing but still visible and will be visible forever. I definitely do not want to have another scar on this gentle trunk. Small branch on second trunk on left side of not so easy to bend, during bending last year part of it died as you can see if you look on past post about this tree. No big damage but it is just to say that radical bending has its limits.
ReplyDeleteAbout final design, I do not know exactly, but I think I will try to build relatively small very dense crown about the size of crown today. And on secondary trunk very small secondary crown in size of 1/4 of main crown. But I will see, I have still 10-20 years to finish it. :)
