I took the tree inside yesterday and played with it while watching Monty Don doing gardening on TV. I can tell you only by watching the guy for hour is pure therapy. Working on our bonsai is definitely one of the best ways to spend free time now. I hope you all have enough trees to style and wire to work with.

Now, as promised tree on a couple of pictures after the minor editing. Few guy wires will hold branches in more desirable positions for quite some time. Since there was no need to make any massive shape changes guy wires seem to be more effective since they easily stay on the branches for much longer than traditional wiring.

I broke off one of the minor branches, was looking at the situation and came to the conclusion I must accept it. I had to be more patient, but I will train my patience for sure.
We have to be patient, do the right things and everything will be OK again.

Stay strong and healthy, we will make it.

We are living through times and I wish all of you good luck and health. For those in quarantine, I hope you will do fine. Being in self-isolation with my family I used this Saturday to finish winter protection of the trees. Nice weather and one shot of Becherovka was very helpful. Now all the trees are on the benches. I plan some minor repoting soon and hopefully a lot of wiring and editing stuff. I'm trying to convince myself it will be good to post as much as possible, I don't know if I will manage to stick to my plan but I try.

So after a tedious morning, I find some time to partially clean this Larix in Lubos Skoda pot and took a few pictures. You can see the tree has a lot of fresh needles popping out. It needs a lot of editing, maybe tomorrow. I will post the result.

Larch freshly out of the winter storage. Now with temperatures attacking 20 °C for a couple of days spring is in full swing, which is both great, partly scary (late frost damage?) and terrible in one go. With such weather one can start repotting right away, it is great time to collect few trees (when? where to place them in an already crowded garden?), wire like half of the trees, a God knows what else.

This larch needs editing, especially in the top right section, it has been guy wired whole year but its larch, you can keep doing it annually and it will bounce back soon after you remove wires. Honestly, taking into consideration there are zero wires on it right now, I'm quite happy.

The second flush of growth this season, time to cut back. No burned needles yet so its good, but we are approaching tropical temperatures again, so if the tree is not supplied enough water part of the foliage will burn and eventually fall off.

Last month was really busy. In short, I collected 10 new trees, repotted up until yesterday 20 trees into new pots, and this larch is possibly smallest one. Sold four trees. Purchased 20 new pots...

Last night I was repotting hornbeam forest under artificial lights till late night. I barely remember when last time I was not going back to the house with clean hands, because I tell you, repotting trees alone especially larger ones, removing thick roots etc. is very messy bussiness, to be honest. I took minimum pictures in the process itself, no way to do it simultaneously and I was almost every day working in the dark.

Despite that, there was one evening when I was not dirty, took my camera and younger daughter to water the trees. Unfortunately, the light was rubbish, and due to lack of time no way to use a tripod. Larch had nice little needles, just popping out from the buds. When I tried to take the picture, there was always animal appearing at front of the tree. Check the last picture as proof. Looked like worm girl liked the new role of the photo model. Fortunately, a couple of shots went quite well, when I managed to hold daughter and animal with my left hand in sufficient distance.

Larix decidua in new pot

We had nice warm spring Saturday so it was a good time to do some repotting. Larch deserved new pot so it has one now from Luboš Škoda kiln. The pot was not purchased for this larch and it is obviously a bit bigger than needed but it was best I had for the tree right now. Pot is much shallower than previous one, so I covered the top of the substrate with moss to use whole depth of it for potential root growth.

Couple of guy wires were added to bring branches into better positions. I did even more bud doing last bends on apex branch I broke it. So, some wires were removed and branch was rescued with rafia and tape.
