There is a thin line between "what a nice first buds, how lovely green fresh leaves" and "WTF I will do with all that foliage". It's not even end of April, the beginning of the year and March were colder than usual and trees have more than needed amount of foliage. I had few minutes today in the garden, with daughter on the swing just behind my back. So I took scissors and applied hedge pruning method on maple for 5 minutes. Looks in shape again.

On progress

We are living in an era of great progress. Everyday we hear about new development in almost all aspects of our lives and technology. For example driverless cars are going to hit roads sooner than we think, just yesterday I heard one of Google companies Waymo is going to launch driverless cabs. If you are taxi driver you better start to study something new very soon.

Or if you noticed, some big cities in Asia, like Delhi are experiencing really huge problems with air pollution this week. I guess most of the problems there are coal fired power plants and combustion engines in vehicles. New technologies are going to help with those issues as well. Tesla is leading pack with its electric vehicles and we can see them already almost daily. Electric revolution is currently under way in automotive industry and we will see the change.

But I have some concerns to be honest. For example what if driverless cars will not work as promised? They should work well but there will be bugs in software or something similar?

Like for example this blogging platform from Google. Some time ago I started to use Google+ comments here. Worked pretty well. But, I wanted one simple thing. Get notification via email whenever someone post a comment under my post. Should be easy task, right?

Of course.

We get dozens of emails. Spammers find you and send you any possible crap. Try to register or use any online services and you'll end up getting their promo emails forever.

But try to set up notifications here on Blogger when you use Google+ comments! You are not getting emails you would like to get!

Strange.

I thought I'm just moron and could not set it up properly. I think I have tried everything and I'm giving up. I just go back to old comments setup. This way all older comments are gone, which is pity but there is no other way I guess.

If you guys, bloggers out there figured out how to do it, please let me know.

I just hope guys at Silicon Valley are going to make better job with AI and robotic taxis.

Yeah, and here is the maple agin. I do not remember such colors. I see it now everywhere. Walter keep killing us with his outstanding stuff daily, and you see it on blogs and social networks that most of the Europe and North America is having colors like never before. What a joy. But I will tell you, naked trees are just behind the corner. I guess tomorrow.

ACER PALMATUM

This maple was partially defoliated couple of weeks ago. Now this is how it looks with second flush of leaves. It was becoming too dense so, couple of shoots were shortened and few leaves removed.

Couple of days difference and shoots were too long. Tree is showing strong vigour and pushing like crazy. I took scissors and cut the top quickly yesterday, shoots in top of the tree tend to thicken too fast. I tend to take cuttings from this maple all the time when I'm cutting it. From previous years I have ONE which is already about 2 cm thick. From last year, I put into substrate about 30 cuttings and it seems about 5-8 are still OK and are growing leaves. I slowly becoming maple addict so I definitely NEED more maple plants for the future. You know the feeling, right? :)

ACER PALMATUM

Few shots of my maple with very fresh foliage. Recently I was thinking what cultivar it could be, if you are acer freak and you able to identify it from those pictures (or older blog posts - just open menu and click LABELS on left side, then click Acer palmatum and you see all posts) leave me your guess in the comment.

Acer palmatum

Tree was edited and many unsuitable branches were cut out, mainly from top. Tree was already too tall, some branches quite leggy so hard pruning back was necessary to get better structure in the future. Now new leaves are on its way. Pictures with fresh foliage will follow soon.

Acer palmatum in autumn colors

In my bonsai work I'm focusing on local plants collected by myself. rarely I do exemptions. Few years back I did one with this maple. I was fun to work and year by year I start to understand why many bonsai enthusiast are attracted to this species. This autumn and colors which it produces convinced me totaly that I definitely would like to have more of those on my shelves when there will be extra space. I kept taking picture of this little tree from late October until now. It still changes color and I still keep it on my turntable and keep looking at it everyday. Colors which this tree produces are simply amazing. Now, most of the pictures are from the one side which I consider best for future front. I definitely would like to improve it, so it will be viewable from all directions.
